Hook Norton Brewery Manager celebrates after passing Advanced Beer Course

Manager of Hook Norton’s Brewery Visitor Centre, Richard Hughes has passed the Beer Academy Advanced Beer Course with flying colours.

Richard joined the team at Hook Norton in 2010 and is responsible for planning events at the brewery, tutored tastings and social media for the visitor centre. Keen to develop his professional beer-based career and knowledge, Richard is overjoyed after passing the examination.

“Attending the Beer Academy’s Advanced Beer Course has equipped me with the necessary skills to communicate knowledgeably about beer with our customers and hopefully, has enhanced my professional status within the beer industry. It has helped my role at Hook Norton immensely; I couldn’t recommend it highly enough,” Richard comments.

The Beer Academy, founded in 2003 by a team of beer enthusiasts, aims to help people understand, appreciate and enjoy beer sensibly. Attracting both small and large brewers, retailers and trade associations, the Academy now runs a series of courses which are delivered by highly knowledgeable tutors who love ale; Richard being one of them.  Over 4,000 students have embarked on an official Beer Academy course to date.

In addition to the Advanced Beer Course, Richard has passed the ‘How to Judge Beer Course’, so the next step is to work on becoming an accredited Beer Sommelier, a title held by some of the most impressive Beer aficionados in the world.
