In June 2022, A Hoppy Place successfully completed an equity crowdfunder using the Seedrs platform and raised £149,000 in exchange for circa 12% of their business. This money was directly used to pay for the costs of opening their second outlet in Maidenhead.
But as co-owner Dave Hayward writes, “Crowdfunding is not an easy, or simple process – and it’s also one that’s politically challenging to navigate successfully. After all, why should the public help a business expand? What’s in it for them? Why can’t that company get that money of their own accord?”
