3 The New Flying Horse, Wye

A very special country inn on the edge of the North Downs, this picturesque pub has one of the best pub gardens in Kent, with picturesque planting that’s well kept – the perfect spot for a cream tea in the sunshine.

The spacious garden has seating for up to 60 people and is surrounded by walks to try, as well as a centrepiece Chelsea Pensioner-themed garden, A Soldier’s Dream of Blighty, which was designed by Julian Dowle and won gold at the Chelsea Flower Show.

4 The Griffins Head, Chillenden

The quintessential Kentish country pub situated between Canterbury and Deal, has sprawling wild roses, a lush green garden and pretty views: all adding up to the picture-perfect pub.

5 The Castle Inn, Bodiam

Situated on the Kent/Sussex border and a stone’s throw from historic Bodiam Castle, the country pub is surrounded on three sides by countryside as far as the eye can see and is a special spot for a quite drink.

Its glorious garden offers views of the river and nearby Kent and East Sussex Railway, and is of such a size a helicopter has been known to land there.

Nestled in the Kent countryside between Sittingbourne and Faversham, The George is full of character, dating back to 1540.

The pub, which was named Shepherd Neame’s Heart of the Community Pub of the Year 2022, is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is surrounded by country walks.

7 The Chestfield Barn, Whitstable

The quirky Grade II Listed building, instantly recognisable due to its thatched roof, is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Chestfield near Whitstable. It boasts an extensive terrace perfect for summer days and evenings, with features including a large pond filled with koi carp.
