Following the dropping in of an anonymous photograph, with Flak Happy Harry on the aircraft fuselage, the idea was borne to ask all local residents for any Stanbridge Earls/Roke Manor memories or memorabilia from the 1940’s through to the late 1950’s.
Nigel Welsh and the team at Flack Manor Brewery discovered much in the way of local history in the search for the perfect premises to brew their beer; so much so that the brewery is creating a series of short e-books on local brewing history through to the present day. Many fantastic photographs of the Flak Shack and the recuperating air force officers at Stanbridge Earls are held by the Imperial War Museum and are costly to utilise. Flack Manor’s brewery shop is already modelled on that era and is appropriately (and affectionately) called the Flak Shack. Flack Manor would like to share your memories and memorabilia by using your treasured memories in their e-books.

Flack Manor Brewery was set up in December 2009, with the aim of bringing quality cask brewing back to Romsey using the traditional and almost unique method of Double Dropping. Following the success of their first beer ‘Double Drop’, Flack Manor Brewery has since launched four new beers – Flack Catcher, the award winning Black Jack Porter, Romsey Gold and the seasonal ale – Wolfie-T (based on the local legend!)
Flack Manor Brewery’s cask ale and bottled beer can be found in pub and club outlets in and around Hampshire and surrounding counties as well as in their brewery shop – The Flak Shack. You can also find them at beer festivals throughout the region.
