Meantime Brewing Company, the Greenwich-based craft brewer, is re-launching the first beer the brewers ever produced, the Union Lager.
First produced in April 2000, the Union will be the first limited edition seasonal brew of 2014 and is inspired by a classic Viennese lager with a full malt flavour.
In June last year, The Greenwich Union – the brew’s namesake pub – was successful in its campaign to bring back the Union for a short month-long run. An instant hit on its return, Meantime is bringing it back again as an official limited edition beer available across a host of London bars for as long as it lasts.
Brewed using a range of roasted malts, the brew is deep copper in colour with a light malt undertone and bready, caramel flavours, alongside a balanced hop bitterness. Overall, the Union Lager has a clean malt character that is light to medium bodied, resulting in a refreshing yet satisfying beer.

Meantime Union Lager is 4.9% ABV and is robust enough to hold its own against spicy foods, providing the perfect accompaniment to everything from pizzas to veal or spicy goulash, providing a well-rounded mouthfeel to even the strongest dish.
The beer is available on draft at Meantime’s retail outlets, and will also be on-tap at a select range of specialist craft pubs, bars and restaurants.
