New appointment at Brakspear

Brakspear has appointed Garry Hughes as a business development manager, with responsibility for  pubs in Essex, Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

Hughes joins from Star Pubs & Bars, where he was a BDM for five years. Previously, he held BDM roles at Greene King Pub Partners and Laurel Pub Company and, prior to moving into operations, was a free trade sales manager for Scottish & Newcastle.

Tom Davies, Brakspear chief executive, said, “Garry’s experience and excellent track record make him a welcome addition to the Brakspear team. He joins at a time when we are bolstering the support we give our tenants through an ongoing programme of ‘sparkles’, and the launch of new training courses to help them run successful businesses.

“The role of our BDMs is crucial in identifying what help each pub needs in order to prosper and the most effective way to provide it. This is why we make sure our BDMs spend as much time as they can with our tenants and lessees, getting to know their businesses so that they can offer tailored support.”

Hughes joins Brakspear to replace Andrew Christie, who has retired after three years as a BDM with the company.
