OSSETT BREWERY’S LOCKDOWN BEER ‘IT’ll BE REYT’ WILL HELP CHILDREN’S CHARITY

West Yorkshire’s independent Ossett Brewery has launched a new ale to bring some much needed positivity to lockdown – and raise cash for a children’s charity.

The beer ‘It’ll be Reyt’ is named after the commonly used positive Yorkshire expression and produced in cans for home delivery during the Covid-19 crisis.  Each case sold by the brewery, will see them donate £2.00 to the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. The hospice cares for children from across West Yorkshire at centres in Halifax, Huddersfield and Brighouse.

The moderate strength copper coloured brew has been added to Ossett’s new canned range for its home delivery service across the UK, which was launched to serve Ossett’s avid followers throughout the current crisis.

Paul Spencer, Ossett’s Director of Brewing, said: “Our creative brewers have brewed ‘It’ll be Reyt’ as a well-balanced bitter to bring some positivity and good cheer during these very challenging times. Generally, it’s the Yorkshire way to take a very positive approach to difficult times and this is our way of expressing that sentiment while also raising money for a very well deserving cause.”

The brewery says the innovative brew has been created using Mosaic and Chinook hops with aromas of blueberry, citrus and spice for a mellow and well balanced easy drinking ale – recommended to drink with a traditional Yorkshire Sunday Roast.

A spokesperson for the Forget Me Not Hospice said: “We were over the moon when Ossett Brewery told us about their “It’ll Be Reyt” beer – and how a portion of the sales would be coming to support us during this incredibly difficult fundraising period. We simply couldn’t continue to care for children and families across West Yorkshire – who need us now more than ever – without the support of our local community”

In the face of the coronavirus lockdown Ossett closed its Brewery Taproom along with 26 pubs across Yorkshire and launched the home delivery service to continue selling its highly popular ales. For the first time the core beer range – Silver KingYorkshire BlondeYorkshire Brunette and Excelsius – has been produced in cans along with the much celebrated White Rat brand, the flagship beer from Ossett’s Rat Brewery in Huddersfield.

All Ossett beers are now available both locally and nationally by ordering online through https://shop.ossett-brewery.co.uk  Hop forward beers from Ossett’s award winning SALT micro-brewery at Saltaire can also be ordered via http://www.saltbeerfactory.co.uk/shop/ Bottles, cans and mini casks are all available depending on the brand.

In addition to the national and local direct home delivery, in West Yorkshire a click & collect service operates with limited slots during the day for pick up at Ossett and a variety of their traditional inns across Yorkshire of all brands, including SALT beers. This service is carried out in accordance with strict coronavirus safety measures. Ends/ ref: Ossett PR 20 – lockdown beer
