Round Corner Brewing Win Five Medals At 2024 European Beer Challenge

Steeplechase Pale Ale Claims Double Gold For Second Year Running

MELTON MOWBRAY, 12th March 2024.

Round Corner Brewing have been awarded an impressive five medals at the 2024 European Beer Challenge in London, with its Steeplechase – Pale Ale picking up a Double Gold Medal in the Standard Pale Ale/Bitter category for the second consecutive year.

Hosted annually in London by the largest beverage awards organisation in the world, the European Beer Challenge is judged by Europe’s leading beer buyers and offers brewers the opportunity to showcase their quality beers on a European stage.

At this year’s awards, Round Corner Brewing entered five of its beers into the awards, showcasing styles across Session IPA, Pacific IPA, English Lager and Standard Pale Ale/Bitter.  And it was verification to the brewery’s pursuit of perfection that all five beers entered medaled.

The most notable medal the brewery claimed was a Double Gold Medal with its Steeplechase – Pale Ale. Having previously achieved the same feat in 2023, this highly awarded pale ale’s medal came in the Standard Pale Ale/Bitter category, which now sits proudly alongside its Gold Medal and Trophy for best canned ale at the 2021 International Brewing Awards.

Another standout medal at this year’s awards went the way of Market Pale – Pale Ale, winning a Gold Medal in the Standard Pale Ale/Bitter category. At the start of 2024 this beer became Round Corner Brewing’s Core Range cask beer and was only made into a Tank Conditioned can and keg version for the first-ever time in February. With this being the first outing of Market Pale in a Tank Conditioned canned form, a Gold Medal is a huge achievement for the brewery.

Alongside these impressive medals, another two Round Corner Brewing beers claimed Gold. With Follow The Green Line – New Zealand Pale Ale and Drovers – Hazy Pale Ale, each bringing home a notable Gold Medal in their respective IPA categories. However, medals didn’t stop there for the brewery with a Silver Medal awarded to Frisby – Lager.

The European Beer Challenge brings together Europe’s leading beer buyers and top beers with each judging session subject to a rigorous blind tasting process, allowing first time entries to compete fairly against some of the world’s most awarded beer and established brands.

For Round Corner Brewing the achievement of winning a medal with every beer entered adds to their well-respected medal roster and continues a positive start to 2024, with plenty more exciting moments on the horizon for the brewery.

Round Corner Brewing’s Head Brewer, Lara Lopes said: “We are delighted to have received this recognition from such a highly regarded competition, where beers from all over the world are judged by Europe’s leading beer buyers.

“To have every beer which we entered win a medal is an amazing feat, and for Steeplechase to win Double Gold two years running really shows how committed we are to brewing consistently high-quality beers day in and day out.

“We’re also delighted to see Market Pale claim its first-ever medal on its awards debut. This beer has only been in our Core Range since the start of the year in cask form, so in its first outing as a Tank Conditioned canned version of our amazing cask beer we are delighted to see it be regarded so highly by the judges.

“I’m very proud of the amazing team we have built here at Round Corner Brewing and these awards are testament to everyone’s relentless efforts and hard work.”

Round Corner Brewing’s Head of Sales, George Tims said: “This is an incredible achievement by the brewery, and it shows what exceptional beer our brewers make across our Core Range and Market Editions.

“Alongside the medals and wonderful assessments given to our beers, we’re making Round Corner Brewing beer more accessible throughout the UK in draught and cans in more pubs, venues, and stores.

“So, to win five awards at The European Beer Challenge and our beer being available in more venues across the UK, it fits perfectly with our vision of making uncommonly good beer accessible to all, through brewing great balanced beers, branding them well and pricing them fairly. Everyone at Round Corner Brewing is excited about how many new customers will try and love our beer in 2024.”
