Britain’s oldest brewer Shepherd Neame is partnering with one of the world’s oldest and most iconic sporting events, The Boat Race.
It is the second year the Faversham-based pub company has been involved in the famous event, which is watched by an estimated 5 million viewers on television.
Male and female boat crews from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge will battle it out on the River Thames in London on Sunday, March 26, when more than 250,000 spectators are expected to attend on the banks of the river including at Fan Parks in Furnival Gardens, Hammersmith, and Bishops Park, Fulham.
Both Fan Parks will open from noon and have big screens available for everyone to watch the BBC coverage of the live races. The 77th Women’s Boat Race will take place at 4pm, with the 168th Men’s Boat Race at 5pm.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a range of beers and ciders from Shepherd Neame’s diverse portfolio, including Spitfire lager, Whitstable Bay Blonde Lager, the original Thai lager Singha, Orchard View cider and Truly Hard Seltzer.
Shepherd Neame Chief Executive Jonathan Neame said: “The Boat Race is the epitome of British style, sporting excellence and tradition, and we are delighted to once again be the Official Beer and Supplier for this prestigious event.”
The Boat Race Company Limited (BRCL) Chair, Siobhan Cassidy, said: “We are delighted to welcome Britain’s oldest brewer Shepherd Neame as our Official Beer Supplier of the Boat Race.
