SHEPHERD NEAME SIGNS EXCLUSIVE DEAL WITH THE BOTTLE SHOP

Tetravis (1)

Bringing limited edition Boston Beer Company beers to the UK

Britain’s oldest brewer, Shepherd Neame, has signed a deal with leading online retailer and wholesaler, The Bottle Shop, giving it exclusive rights to import limited edition barrel-aged beers from the Boston Beer Company and the brewery’s merchandise.

The Kent brewery currently brews Samuel Adams Boston Lager under licence in the UK and this new agreement will see beers imported from the leading American craft brewer’s Barrel Room Collection and made available in the UK for the first time.

The range of five beers will be available to trade customers and consumers in 2015.
The beers are:

American Kriek 7.0% abv

A bold aroma of cherries followed by a perfect balance of subtle malt sweetness and the tart flavour of dark cherries. This flavoursome ale is our take on a Belgian Kriek. Aged on a bed of Balaton cherries for an intense black cherry character. The dark red fruit and tart sweetness is balanced and mellowed by a rich maltiness and hint of toasted oak.

New World 10% abv

This Tripel was born from the Old World Belgian technique of barrel aging and the New World’s craft brewing innovation. With its pale golden colour and uniquely refreshing taste, this big, flavoursome, and complex brew has a subtle herbal hop character combined with the tropical fruit and spice notes of its special Belgian yeast.

Stony Brook Red 9% abv

This unique brew builds from the inspiration of Flemish reds. It begins with an earthy sourness and hints of dark fruit but the tartness gives way to a rich maltiness and touch of toasted oak. These flavours are rounded and deepened by the barrel aging for a layered and alluring brew.

Thirteenth Hour Stout 9% abv

The 13th hour is the witching hour, and a time when strange brews can occur. With 13 ingredients, we combined the roasted chocolate and coffee flavours of a stout with the complex spicy character of a Belgian-style ale aged in oak for a deep, robust, and captivating brew.

Tetravis 10.2% abv

Bold and rich, this enveloping quad builds its force and character through interlacing layers of flavour. Its deep complexity begins with a molasses sweetness with notes of dark fruits like raisins and figs but develops further with an undercurrent of tart spice from its distinctive Belgian yeast for a truly transfixing brew.

The Bottle Shop managing director, Andrew Morgan, said: “We have a hugely discerning customer-base; people who know and care about beer. By bringing the Barrel Room Collection to the UK for the first time we are – once again – importing some of the world’s most interesting beers.”

Shepherd Neame sales and marketing director, Graeme Craig, said: “Samuel Adams Boston Lager has exploded since we began brewing it here in early 2012. We’ve been able to complement its success by importing a select range of the Boston Beer Company’s seasonal beers. It’s great that we can now take that success one step further by working with The Bottle Shop; a specialist retailer whose customers appreciate high quality, niche products like the Barrel Room Collection.”
