Siemens Lands Two Craft Brewery Projects

Siemens has landed two craft brewery projects through Craftwerk Brewing Systems, a leading OEM formed only a year ago, but quickly earning a reputation as a leading manufacturer of high quality brewing systems and equipment.

Craftwerk Brewing Systems, in a partnership with Complete Automation, selected Siemens Simatic PCS 7 with Braumat Compact craft brewing libraries for Griffin Claw Brewing Company, based in Birmingham, Mich., and Dragonmead Microbrewery, based in Warren, Mich.

The Simatic PCS 7 process control system enhances data exchange and engineering workflow for end users.  Simatic PCS 7 with the Braumat Compact Craft Brewing libraries, offers a complete bundled solution for craft breweries, and has already gained a notable place in the brewing industry.

Siemens Braumat Compact, developed specifically for craft brewers, is a user-configurable process control system that provides recipe management, scheduling, archiving, reporting and trending functions, as well as engineering software, operator interface, controller, drives and I/O modules.  The combined Simatic PCS 7 and Braumat Compact package provides craft breweries with the same technology often found in the largest of operations, but at an affordable price level for the craft brewery, thus helping increase efficiency, boost production, maximize equipment utilization, eliminate variability and ensure precision or recipes.

“We are proud of our long-term relationship with the owners of Craftwerk Brewing Systems, and this, along with our global customer services network, allowed Siemens to be well-positioned as a trusted partner to assist the newly formed OEM to accommodate multiple brewing automation projects in the pipeline,” says Ed Montgomery, brewing industry manager for Siemens.  “Both Craftwerk Brewing Systems and Complete Automation saw the value in our solutions, and recognized that these systems could be installed at the end user level in a timely and cost effective manner.”
