With summer stretching out ahead of us Skinner’s, the award-winning Truro brewery, is celebrating the newest addition to its core range, a tasty Cornish lager called Towans. Towans is a dry hopped, full flavoured triumph that proves lager drinkers don’t need to compromise on taste when seeking to slake their summer thirst.
Dry-hopped during fermentation, Towans packs a powerful burst of fruity flavours and aromas that are deepened by the dense, frothy head. The malt that produces the distinctive head also imparts a wheat flavour that gradually cedes to a clean, citrus finish with a sharp, refreshing edge. A great craft lager and a perfect partner for seafood, spicy food and gourmet burgers.
As ever, Skinner’s has been inspired by the Cornish coastline and not only is the artwork a beautiful homage to the Cornish landscape but the name Towans comes from the Cornish term for sand dunes.
Towans is available on draught in selected pubs and will be widely available in 330ml bottles.
Skinner’s Founder, Steve Skinner, said: “We absolutely loved crafting this lager. At Skinner’s we’re big fans of dry hopping, as it really brings out the flavours and aromas of the exciting hops we use from the US, New Zealand and Czech Republic.
“Towans’ name and design is inspired by the coastal places I’ve lived near all my life, so it was only a matter of time before I made a beer in honour of them!”
Skinner’s is proud of its Cornish roots and so gave visitors to the Royal Cornwall Show a sneak peek of the new brew and the brewery team was delighted by the response. Feedback included:
