Take a Look Inside New Coventry Pub Following £330,000 Refurbishment

The Sovereign on Charter Avenue in Coventry re-opened on Thursday 25th April following a major investment of £330,000. The pub is part of Proper Pubs – the award-winning community operator division of Admiral Taverns – which has more than 200 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.

The pub undergone a full internal and external refurbishment to give The Sovereign a fresh look that will appeal to all the local community. This includes brand new flooring throughout as well as an updated seating and bar area to give the pub an elevated, modern feel. It also boasts a new pool table and two bespoke dartboards for both recreational and competitive use.

Outside, the pub features updated lighting and signage to greet visitors and a newly renovated garden area that customers will be able to enjoy during the warmer months.

For opening night, customers were treated to a live performance from local artist, Ian Davies, and the rest of the weekend saw an array of family friendly activities including a bouncy castle, face painting and a children’s entertainer.

Operators of The Sovereign, Michelle and Aimee Fagan, said: “Opening night was absolutely fantastic! It was a pleasure to welcome all our customers, old and new, to the newly transformed pub and it was great to be able to show off everything that The Sovereign has to offer.

The reception we’ve received from the local community has been amazing and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back again soon!”

The Sovereign offers a wide range of drinks promotions as well as TNT, Sky Sports and horse racing channels for visitors to enjoy. Going forward, Michelle and Aimee are excited introduce a regular schedule of entertainment including quiz and karaoke nights on top of hosting local darts teams. In addition, the operators will run a series of fundraising events for charities close to their hearts and to kick this off they will be sponsoring the local community centre.

Proper Pubs is always looking for ways to support its communities through an annual schedule of events and fundraising initiatives. This year – for the third consecutive year running – Proper Pubs donated over 17,600 Easter treats to local communities across the UK.  What’s more, in the lead up to Christmas, Proper Pubs donated 20,000 Christmas selection boxes and other festive treats to local charities and has been recognised for its defibrillator fundraising and installation campaign which has already saved 11 lives.
