TCG’s Operations team boosts Cancer Research funds

TCG’s operations team has helped the company’s collection for Cancer Research UK to push through the £50,000 mark, following a marathon two-day walking, cycling and climbing ‘Operations Team Challenge’ around their 16 central London pubs and bars last week.

Chief operating officer Nigel Wright led his team of five regional operations managers around the capital on foot, by ‘Boris bike’, Air Emirates cable car, river bus and pogo sticks, among other forms of transport. They finished Day One with a climb over the 02 building, while Day Two closed with a fundraising ‘Floating Comedy Night’ aboard their flagship site, the Tattershall Castle.

All the pubs and bars along the Ops Challenge route staged fundraising activities, ranging from the simple ‘bucket on the bar’ to novelty photo booths and a set of stocks where ‘volunteers’ were pelted with wet sponges.

Wright said, “This is the second year that the Ops Team has completed a Challenge for our chosen charity and it’s always a hugely satisfying experience for us and,  I’m sure, for the pub and bar teams who get to see their ‘bosses’ in a state of physical and mental exhaustion!

“We are grateful to everyone who supported our efforts, which have raised another significant sum of money to the funds already collected by our pub and bar teams. We’re confident of reaching our £70,000 target by early next year.”

Sian Billingsley, Senior Local Fundraising Manager at Cancer Research UK said, “We’re delighted that TCG staff have managed to raise such an impressive amount to support the pioneering work of Cancer Research UK. We receive no government funding so the support of people like the staff at TCG is absolutely critical in helping us to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has fundraised towards this total so far.”
