Three new accolades for multi-award winning Abbeydale Brewery

Abbeydale Brewery are celebrating three times over this week, after winning a trilogy of prestigious awards for their beers and branding.

Firstly, the Brewers Journal named Sheffield based Abbeydale Brewery (most famous for their Moonshine pale ale) the winners of the Branding of the Year Award at a London ceremony last week, where the team celebrated alongside hundreds of their brewing industry peers at the glittering annual “Brewers Choice” industry awards. The award, judged by a panel of experts, recognises the branding from Abbeydale Brewery’s much-acclaimed Funk Dungeon project – a nano batch barrel ageing and souring project, the beers from which are some of the first of this type to be presented in can in the UK.

In addition, two of Abbeydale Brewery’s much-loved core range have won gold medals at the Society of Independent Brewers’ North East regional bottle and can awards. Their classic bitter “Daily Bread” scooped first place in the Best Bitter category, and Black IPA “Black Mass” came out on top in the Speciality IPA round.

Abbeydale Brewery, who celebrated their 25th anniversary last year, are well known for producing a huge range of beers, blending innovation with heritage and reflecting these values across their beers. Marketing Manager Laura Rangeley says of the awards; “We really are humbled and overwhelmed to see so many different elements of the diverse range of beers we produce being celebrated and enjoyed, from the very traditional to the most wildly creative, and it’s amazing to have some good news to share in these uncertain and testing times”.

The Funk Dungeon branding is created by designer James Murphy, who has been working with Abbeydale Brewery since 2016. James described the award as “an honour”, adding that the unique branding for the Funk Dungeon project “aims to provide subtle nods to the beers’ styles, heritage and production processes where possible, whilst also being packed full of interesting and engaging elements to attract and captivate the drinker… It is a privilege to visually represent the hard work Jim and the team put into to creating these fantastic beers.”
