Unity Brewing Co unveil refreshed core range designs

Working in collaboration with illustrator Matt Canning, Unity Brewing Co have refreshed and updated their core range of year round craft beers.

After a long and in depth reflection of their brewery, culture and values Unity Brewing Co have overhauled their existing label designs to better reflect this. Working with long term collaborator Matt Canning to create a new, fun and exciting view of the brewery and their beers including flagship Pale Ale Conflux, Collision IPA and Prinzen Lagerbier.

Founder and Head Brewer Jimmy Hatherley says: I am so proud of the journey our business has taken over the past four years, and I have always strived to build upon and improve every aspect of the brewery – from our recipes, to the service in our taproom and of course how our beer is presented in the market. Matt Canning is an integral part of our team, and his work is key to communicating who we are as a company”

Matt Canning adds: “Continuing on from the soft 80s/90s nostalgic aesthetic we currently had for the core beers, we wanted to make the beer names part of the artwork rather than the artwork focus being just a background image with text overlaid – and importantly to really hone in what Unity is all about. I think what we’ve ended up with marries well with the can contents – soft, friendly and delicious!” Canning has produced artwork for the brewery for the past two and a half years including designs for their side project May Provisions and collaborations with breweries such as Left Handed Giant and their Creative Director James Yeo.

The new designs will be rolled out from the 10th of February and products available from Unity’s webshop ( and at their onsite Brewery Kiosk in Southampton city centre.


Unity is a 20 hectolitre craft brewery in Southampton, producing modern, seasonal beers for sale in local and national bars, restaurants and bottle shops, as well as via their on-site taproom and online webshop.  

Unity produces modern craft beer, with a core range that includes Conflux Pale Ale, Collision IPA and Prinzen Lagerbier. There are also regular seasonal and special addition beers.

The brewery, which launched in 2016, expanded into its new larger site in June 2019. Investment was raised via crowdfunding, meaning the brewery is now owned by over 300 people and employs a team of seven staff.

The contemporary taproom – when open – offers local beer lovers the opportunity to drink fresh Unity beer at source. Canned and draught beer – from Unity and from other breweries within their network of industry friends and collaborators – is also available to take away.
