Woodforde’s Norfolk Ales is delighted to announce a partnership with Norfolk Cordial in a bid to broaden its existing portfolio and distribute non-alcoholic drinks for the first time in 32 years.
As Norfolk’s largest, award-winning brewery, Woodforde’s ales appear in flagship pubs across East Anglia whilst Norfolk Cordial produces luxury, non-alcoholic, fresh fruit cordials for customers including Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Fortnum and Mason and Ragdale Hall.
The collaboration sees the brewery extend its range of eight ales and one lager and Norfolk Cordial reach a larger network of pubs through increased distribution of its six cordials.
Since meeting at the Eastern Daily Press’ Food & Drink Awards two years ago, Norfolk Cordial’s drinks have proved popular in Woodforde’s brewery shop.
And managing director, Rupert Farquharson says the collaboration gives publicans a credible alternative to alcoholic drinks:
“30% of people who visit pubs enjoy a soft drink instead of an alcoholic one, so we believe there is huge opportunity for well-presented, soft drinks for adults.
Woodforde’s uses the best quality Norfolk malted barley in its beers and Norfolk Cordial sources soft fruit from Norfolk farms, so we share the same passion for high quality ingredients and an eagerness to support local producers. This partnership can only complement our range of award winning beers.”
John McFarlane and Georgie Rodwell formed Norfolk Cordial after the fantastic response Georgie’s homemade elderflower cordial received when served in a well-known local pub.
With John identifying a gap in the market for adult soft drinks, the business went on to appear in front of millions on the BBC’s Dragons’ Den television programme in 2013.
John adds: “Norfolk Cordial is very excited to be partnering up with such an iconic Norfolk brand. We both pride ourselves on quality, sustainability and taking an ethical approach to doing business, so there is a great synergy between the two companies.
We hope to see a marked rise in the number of establishments serving our cordials throughout the region in addition to increasing the efficiency of our operations due to utilising Woodforde’s distribution and sales structure.”
Woodforde’s has just launched its very first guest lager, Norfolk Craft Lager, which is selling well across Norfolk’s pubs whilst Norfolk Cordial is releasing its new cordial for the summer, Wild Elderflower & Cucumber at the Royal Norfolk Show.
Visit Woodforde’s and Norfolk Cordial at the Royal Norfolk Show on 3rd Drive, Avenue 14, on the 25th and 26th June.
