A grassroots football league which supports dads in Norfolk has been sponsored by the county’s largest brewery.
Match of the Dads, a five-a-side league at The FDC in Bowthorpe, recently won a sponsorship competition from Woodforde’s Brewery.
They were awarded £1,000 for their new kit which was presented to them at their weekly matches on November 20.
The brewery also arranged for Norwich City goalkeeper, George Long, to attend.
Paul Godfrey, founder of Match of the Dads, said: “Match of the Dads are delighted to partner with Woodforde’s as our shirt sponsor.
“As a collective, Match of the Dads’ goal is to raise money for Campaign Against Living Miserably, along with raising awareness of mental health conditions and lack of support for dads, dads-to-be, stepdads and the male population.
“Having Woodforde’s on our side through this long-term partnership will aid us in promoting the work we do in our local community, with the aim of branching out into new areas of the country – enabling more dads to realise the benefits exercise and team sports can have on their wellbeing.”
The league provides a support network for dads, stepdads and dads-to-be with help and advice in partnership with the Norfolk and Waveney Wellbeing Service.
Match of the Dads helps people of all abilities keep fit in a social setting while raising vital funds for mental health charity, CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).
James Ramm, Head of Sales at Woodforde’s Brewery, said: “We are thrilled to provide our support to this brilliant league.
“As Norfolk’s largest brewery, supporting local grassroots teams is so important us. We recognise the huge role they play in our heartland and the impact they have in their communities.
“During the nominations, we heard time and time again of the impact Match of the Dads has on its members.
“The Woodforde’s team are proud to support the league and help them continue their great work.
“We would also like to thank NCFC for supporting the presentation.”
Jonathan Casbon, Head of Partnerships at Norwich City FC, said: “We’re delighted to be able to support our partners at Woodforde’s with their Norfolk Day campaign and help promote the great work that Match of the Dads are doing in the community.
“Boosting awareness of mental health wellbeing is very important for everyone at Norwich City FC, as we utilise our position to encourage fans to check in with those around them, and we’re grateful to the team at Woodforde’s for highlighting important activity in this space across our county.”
