With beers including Wherry, Nelson’s Revenge and Norfolk Gem it’s no surprise that Woodforde’s brewery is proud of its Norfolk roots so after fighting off stiff competition from some of the region’s finest producers, Woodforde’s was crowned ‘Pride of Norfolk’ at the annual Norfolk Food and Drink Awards on 10th September 2012.
The awards celebrate the best of Norfolk’s food and drink producers, with the ‘Pride of Norfolk’ category awarded to the brand which best demonstrates the excellence of Norfolk food and drink production in the UK, while instilling a real sense of pride in the county.
Rupert Farquharson, Managing Director of Woodforde’s comments: “This award is a celebration of the fine Norfolk ingredients, stories, people and heritage that has inspired our development since we started over 30 years ago.
“We’ve always been proud of our Norfolk roots; they’re at the heart of everything we do from our new brews to our ale trails. Yet, this award is especially important as it shows how we’ve retained this proximity to Norfolk while still making waves further afield”.
The judges commented how “Woodforde’s is probably Norfolk’s most iconic beer, loved by locals and beer enthusiasts right across the UK. But this success has not been at the expense of its roots.”
