Adnams brews ‘Prop Hop’ to mark the start of Six Nations Championship

Adnams, the award-winning Suffolk brewer, has again brewed its limited edition beer, Prop Hop, to mark the Six Nations Championship, starting on Saturday 6 February. First released in August 2015, in support of The Matt Hampson Foundation, it is hoped that the beer will help to raise further awareness and funds for the charity founded by former rugby prop, Matt Hampson.
The Matt Hampson Foundation is a charity that provides support and treatment to anyone suffering serious injury or disability, but particularly those who have obtained their injuries while training for, or playing sport. The founder Matt Hampson set-up the charity after he himself was rendered a quadriplegic following an accident during an England Under 21 rugby training session in 2005.
Fergus Fitzgerald, Head Brewer at Adnams, said: “We’ve brought Prop Hop  back to celebrate the 2016 Six Nations Championship. We are delighted to be working with former England prop Matt Hampson once again and we will continue to donate a proportion of the beer sales to his foundation, so that the charity can continue to grow and provide crucial support to so many.
“This golden 4% bitter is quintessentially British and has been brewed with a carefully selected variety of English hops including Endeavour, plus barley and pale rye malt. It incorporates malty biscuit flavours with subtle undernotes of orange peel. Prop Hop has been crafted to complement foods, such as lamb burgers, so it’s a perfect accompaniment for a party as well as a match!”
Charity founder, Matt Hampson said: “We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Adnams once again to deliver our ‘Prop Hop’ beer and it’s a great way to mark the Six Nations Championship. Last year, Prop Hop was a hit with beer lovers during the 2015 Rugby World Cup and it helped to raise funds for The Foundation. We hope that it will be as popular this year and will continue to raise awareness of the work we do.”
Prop Hop will be available in cask from selected outlets during the competition and also available to purchase in mini casks online at adnams.co.uk and in Adnams Stores, priced at £31.98 for a Mini Cask Twin-Pack.

The Matt Hampson Foundation
The Foundation’s aim is to provide advice, support, relief and/or treatment for anyone suffering serious injury or disability which has arisen from any cause, but in particular from participation in or training for any sport, sporting activity or other form of physical education or recreation.
The Matt Hampson Foundation mainly assists people who have received such injuries in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland but will also help those in other parts of the world who need urgent assistance.
Assistance takes the form of direct grants to individuals or by paying into existing and future funds to assist with equipment, technology or just every day expenses.  Organisations and institutions with similar aims and who also provide relief and treatment to those who have suffered injuries as described above are also supported. Through Matt Hampson, the Foundation is also able to offer mentoring, friendship and education. Very often a chat with somebody such as Matt who has been through it, ‘got the t-shirt’ and overcome many issues himself is the best assistance that injured people can get. Matt’s educational visits to schools and clubs provide understanding and can be extremely motivational to those who hear him talk about his experiences and his zest for life.
