Brook House Hops feature on BBC One Countryfile – Sunday 19th Sept 7pm

Local hop growers Brook House Hops, who run two large hop farms in Herefordshire and Worcestershire will feature on Countryfile this weekend.

The popular BBC One show will highlight the ‘Great British Hop Revival’ which Brook House Hops are spearheading thanks to their recent investment in modern hop growing technology and their ongoing commitment to sustainable farming initiatives. Countryfile presenter Anita Rani visited the farms at Newnham Bridge and Bromyard during harvest to help with hop picking, learn about new British hop varieties and sample a range of popular cask and craft beers that are brewed with Brook House Hops.

Brook House Hops are recognised as one of the largest hop growers in the UK and over the last few years have built up a business that seeks to develop a direct relationship with brewers rather than sell through a traditional hop merchant. They have invested significantly in modern farming technology, hop processing and cold storage facilities to ensure that the hops they grow will consistently deliver a fantastic range of beautiful aromas and flavours that brewers need to create premium quality beer.

Will Kirby, founder and farmer at Brook House Hops was delighted to host the BBC during harvest;

“We’re very proud of the range of British hops we grow and are lucky to have such a passionate and dedicated team who work tirelessly through the year to produce some of the most aromatic and verdant hops in the UK.

British hops and hop growing is ingrained in the history of our counties and supports our local economy. Our local hop varieties help to make British beer unique and treasured around the world. We feel it is important to recognise this heritage but also to embrace innovation, become more sustainable and look to continuously improve in order to protect and grow the industry for the future.

To have the opportunity to share what we do with the Countryfile team and their audience is simply fantastic. It is the busiest time of the year for us now and the hops need to be picked when they are at their absolute best, so having an extra pair of hands to help with harvest was also very welcome!”

Brook House Hops is a hop farm and producer based in Herefordshire, UK, established in 2015. They grow their own hops which are truly unique thanks to the rich, red, Herefordshire soil. Brook House also sources niche hop strains from around the world and are meticulous about quality.

Brook House was established to give customers flexibility in their choices and access to the very best UK hops, without having to go via a traditionally inflexible hop merchant. As well as exotic hop offerings from around the globe, they grow some of the most aromatic, verdant hops in the world which they achieve by using a mixture of the latest technology and traditional farming expertise.
