Cumbrian brewery sees in spring with new website and rebrand

ONE of Cumbria’s newest breweries is seeing in the spring by rebranding and launching an innovative new website.

The Eden Brewery, which is based in Brougham Hall, near Penrith, enjoyed a successful year in 2013 with the launch a number of new beers that proved highly popular in Cumbria and further afield.

So far this year brewer Jason Hill has been busy working on developing a new website for the brewery which he believes is the first in Cumbria that will allow people to buy casks of beer online at the click of a mouse.

Mr Hill has also been busy altering the look and feel of the labelling for some of the brewery’s regular beers and working on new products for 2014.

Eden’s range of beers inspired by characters and events in the cult film Withnail and I, which was filmed in Cumbria, has proved highly popular. Its Tebay Blond, which it brewed and bottled especially for the Westmorland Group to sell at its award-winning Tebay Services on the M6, has also been selling quickly.

Its regulars Eden Fuggle, Eden Best, Eden Gold and First Emperor have also proved consistently popular since it began production in 2012.

Mr Hill said demand for the beers meant he had to spend so much time brewing it had not always been easy to work on developing other aspects of the business.

Mr Hill said: “As well as being super busy brewing and delivering beer we have also been working hard to make the time to develop our website and re-think the labelling for our beers. However, it has been a really good effort and we are really happy with what we have produced.

“Our website went live in March and as well as using it to buy cask beer people can also go online and buy bottles of our beers and gift packs. The Withnail beers proved particularly successful as gifts over Christmas, so this is another way people can get their hands on them and all the other beers in our range.

“At the same time we have made some subtle but powerful changes to the colours and fonts we use for some of our labelling and beer tap badges. I think this has had the effect of helping us stand out a bit from the crowd, as well as giving things a slightly more contemporary feel. We make delicious tasting beers that have something for everyone, but at the same time we like to experiment and try new things and I think the work we have done reflects this.”

As well as working on these new developments Eden is also planning to release two seasonal beers in the spring and summer. The beers, named Atomic Blonde and Dynamite, will be available from April to June and July to September respectively.
