Fuller, Smith and Turner PLC, the London brewer and premium pub company, is delighted to announce a new collaboration project with six of its brewing friends. Fuller’s and Friends sees Fuller’s team up with Cloudwater Brew Company, Fourpure Brewing Company, Hardknott Brewery, Marble Beers Limited, Moor Beer Company and Thornbridge Brewery to create six new collaboration beers packaged together that will be exclusive to Waitrose within the grocery market.

With a different Fuller’s brewer working with each brewery, these collaboration beers are certainly varied. The six pack includes a dry-hopped lager with Fourpure, a New Zealand Saison with Marble, a red rye ale with Thornbridge, a New England IPA with Cloudwater, a smoked Porter with Hardknott and a homage to Extra Special Bitter with Moor Beer. Each beer has been brewed at Fuller’s Brewery in Chiswick. Six members of the Fuller’s brewing team have been partnered up with each brewer and together have created new recipes, worked through the whole brewing process from beginning to end, designed the artwork for the bottle labels and given it a name.

John Keeling, Fuller’s Global Ambassador, said “It has been a privilege to be able to welcome these six brewers to Fuller’s home to create these new beers. I have always enjoyed doing collaborations and to extend this to include brewers from other breweries all over the country seemed like it would be such fun for everyone.

“Collaborating on beers is much more effective when meeting a brewer face to face. Collaboration is not just about agreeing a recipe then brewing a beer, it is a great way to make friends. So Georgina and I asked Rob at Thornbridge, Dave at Hardknott, Dan at Fourpure, Justin at Moor, James at Cloudwater and JK at Marble, all of whom I knew, some I had already brewed with but all were friends, to get involved. What better way to get the team at Fuller’s to experience the full meaning of collaboration than for them to work with these great brewers?

“The levels of enthusiasm and creativity in our first meeting was so inspiring and it did not take long for recipes and trial brews to follow. I am looking forward to tasting all the final brews and to continue the legacy of Fuller’s and Friends with other brewers in the future.”

Fuller’s and Friends mixed six pack will be exclusive to exclusive to Waitrose within the grocery market and will be available later this year in time for Christmas.

Notes to Editors:

TASTING NOTES

Fuller’s and Fourpure – Galleon Dry-Hopped Lager

Dry Hopped Lager // Alc. 4.8% Vol.

We’ve used lashings of Loral, a modern American hop, to give Galleon its unique character: there’s bucket-loads of floral citrus and delicious dark-fruit flavour in this crisp, refreshing lager. Dry-hopped for extra punch.

Fuller’s and Marble – Matariki

New Zealand Saison // Alc. 5.8% Vol.

Belgium meets New Zealand in this zesty, spicy ale. Using wheat, oats, rye and spelt and a trio of Kiwi hops, we’ve created a beer that’s both complex and very, very drinkable.

Fuller’s and Moor – Rebirth

Extra Special Bitter // Alc. 6.0% Vol.

We’ve gone back to our original 1971 ESB recipe to create something bigger and bolder. Rebirth uses hops from Britain, Australia, Slovenia and the USA to create a rich, complex, delicious ale.

Fuller’s and Thornbridge – Flora & The Griffin

Red Rye Ale // Alc. 7.1% Vol.

This punchy red ale is made with a diverse range of ingredients including spicy rye malt and bold, floral American hops. Made in collaboration with Derbyshire’s Thornbridge, it’s named after the symbols of both breweries, Flora and The Griffin.

Fuller’s and Cloudwater – N.E. IPA

New England IPA // Alc. 7.0% Vol.

We’ve used oats, wheat and a mountain of hops – Chinook and Simcoe from the US and Olicana from the UK – to make a soft, juicy New England IPA. We’ve then bottle conditioned it, old-England style.

Fuller’s and Hardknott – Peat Souper

Smoked Porter // Alc. 7.0% Vol.

Named after the thick fogs that bedevilled industrial London, this delicious dark beer takes inspiration from the capital’s 18th-century Porters. Smoky peat, rich malt and a trio of classic English hops make it one to savour.

Fourpure is a London based brewery founded by brothers Dan and Tom Lowe in 2013. Family owned and run, beer is our passion and our travels are what inspire us to brew. We are innovative, nimble and progressive yet strive to stay true to the principles of brewing – respecting the four core ingredients used to make beer.

The Marble Brewery is a microbrewery in Manchester, England which makes cask ale from organic and vegetarian ingredients. The original brewery consisted of a five-barrel plant, designed and installed by Brendan Dobbin, former proprietor of the West Coast Brewing Company. Due to increased production the brewery expanded in 2011 to 12-barrel capacity, and the brewery was moved from the back room of the Marble Arch pub to under one of the railway arches on Williamson Street, a short distance away.

Moor Beer was started in 2007 by Justin Hawke, taking influence from his native California, Germany and Britain. The Bristol-based, independent business kicked off the UK’s unfined beer movement and is the first brewer to be CAMRA-accredited for cask, keg, bottle and can. Moor Beer prides itself on its award-winning ‘Modern Real Ales’.

Thornbridge branded beers were first brewed in early 2005 after the establishment of a 10 barrel brewery in the grounds of Thornbridge Hall. Our initial focus was on a range of cask beers that used traditional recipes but provided a modern twist through the use of a wide range of hops, malts and the innovation and passion of the brewing team. After winning a succession of awards, a new, state of the art, brewery and bottling line was opened at Bakewell in September 2009 to meet with demand and increase our range of beers.

Cloudwater – At the heart of our brewery is a deep love for the changing seasons, each bringing with it an invitation to enjoy the scarcity and abundance the natural world offers. We want to showcase the ebb and flow by using seasonal ingredients at their very best, and taking inspiration from the change of lifestyle each season creates.

Hardknott – Stunning Craft Beer from the Western Lakes. We are located in West Cumbria, our birthplace was at the foot of the notorious Hardknott Pass, from which we take our name. We are now located at the foot of Black Combe, which dominates the skyline of the Duddon Estuary. We take our influences from world beers like Belgian Monastery beers and American Craft Beers. Our goal is to make the most stunning beers that have ever come from The Western Lakes.
