The Global Craft Beer Awards were presented for the first time by the Global Association of Craft Beer Brewers (GACBB) on July 25, 2014 in Berlin. The awards, which are judged exclusively by brewers, honour achievements in craft brewing over 31 categories, which cover all aspects of brewing such as design, lagers, ales, innovation, and experimental styles. All winners for in 2014 can be found here: www.craftbeeraward.org/award-winners
Participants for this year included 68 breweries from over 26 countries. In the end, there were over 220 different individual entries into this year’s Global Craft Beer Award. In the end, 44 breweries walked away from the event as happy winners. The winners were announced on Friday, July 25th at the Global Craft Beer Festival Kick-Off Party at the Alte Börse by Michelle Meredith of the GACBB and Rory Lawton of the Craft Beer Center, who acted as this year’s Award Coordinators.
The Jury Tasting Panels took place at the Alte Börze, Marzahn. During the panels, all entries through each of the 30 categories were evaluated by our group of 34 international jury members. The Global Craft Beer Award Jury is made up exclusively of brewers, creating an opportunity to learn and exchange not only via feedback from the panels, but also within the panels themselves. In the spirit of the GACBB, the Global Craft Beer Awards works to create a framework for bringing international brewers together, promoting inspiration and honouring one another’s achievements.
